This book was an expression of his evangelical Christian views in which he sought to revitalize England's lagging Christian ideals and reverse the nation's moral decline. A truly unique assocation copy, this book is signed by Joseph Bloomfield at the head of Chapter One. One of the American Edition's underwriters, Major General Joseph Bloomfield is listed in the suscriber's list. Bloomfield served in the American Revolution in the New Jersey Regiment as a Major. He served in the state assembly. In 1794 he led the Federal forces to Western Pennsylvania to quell the Whiskey Rebellion. He later served in the War of 1812 and was the Governor of New Jersey. .
